In addition to all the great memories your guests will be taking home from your wedding, they’ll also be taking home the wedding favors. At least, that’s what you hope. Sadly, many wedding favors get left behind on reception tables. If you don’t want to have an edible favor, which traditionally is a hit for guests, it’s important to find a favor for your wedding that will set your wedding apart from others and hopefully give your guests something that they will want to take home. Here’s a few ideas along those lines.
A wedding favor that can appeal to many women is an Asian fan. These can be a great fashion accessory, especially in the hot summer months. An added benefit of Asian fans is that they are a fashionable accessory that can be easy on your wedding budget, even if you get them monogrammed or engraved with your wedding date and the names of the bride and groom.
Bookmarks can be another useful item used for wedding favors. Be careful about this one because if most of your guests are in a generation that has embraced e-readers such as Kindle and Kobo, your bookmark wedding favor could be seen as outdated, no matter how much money and energy you poured into it.
No matter what their generation, people will always appreciate coasters for their drinks. Coasters can be made into fine wedding favors. Similar to that are wedding favor bottle stoppers, especially if you engrave the details of your wedding on it. And if you want to remain with the kitchen wedding favors, consider heart-shaped measuring spoons, which are also engravable. These heart-shaped measuring spoons have, however, become very popular recently, so you risk offering a wedding favor that your guests have already been given at another wedding.
No matter what advice you take from me or anyone else about your wedding favors, make sure you are happy and proud of what you choose. The rest will take care of itself.
I have a bookmark which was the wedding favor of my parents’ wedding. My parents’ names are engraved on it. I have kept it as a memento. I have also decided to design a similar bookmark for my own wedding. The best part of the story is that most of my guests and acquainted are bookworm but they have not yet embraced e-readers. They prefer books over these gadgets.
Last summer I went for a wedding and received an Asian fan as a wedding favor. I liked the idea and the fan is quite useful. It adds style to my attire and I always carry it with me when going out in summer.
